Are you taking submissions?
Unfortunately, we are not taking manuscript submissions at this time, as our publishing schedule is set for a while. We recommend that you check out the excellent Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America website. Please do check back at our website, as we hope to take submissions again soon.
Happily, we *are* taking art submissions. Please don't send us attachments, as, like everyone else, we won't open them unless we already know you. If you can point us to a link on your website, that'd be optimal. Just email us.
Just what the heck *is* a Tachyon anyway?
A tachyon (tack-ee-on; from the Greek tachus meaning speedy) is a hypothetical elementary sub-atomic particle with imaginary mass that is capable of exceeding the speed of light. Tachyons would violate causality if they were proven to exist, because they could be sent to the past, creating a time paradox (you know, like on every other episode of Star Trek). This would mean that events could happen in opposite time frames. This is how we meet our deadlines here at Tachyon - first we miss them and then we go back and meet them. Tachyons actually travel faster when they are losing energy and slow down when they are gaining energy, which is kind of a metaphor for the publishing industry, if you think about it (we try not to, though).
I think your books are amazing. How can I buy a complete set of Tachyon titles?
You'd be amazed at how often we get this question. To order from Tachyon directly, from this very website, please go to our books page.
Booksellers and wholesalers, many of our newer titles, such as the third edition of the Rhinoceros Who Quoted Nietzsche (pub. date 9/03), are also distributed to the book trade by Independent Publishers Group. Or you can email us to place orders for resale, or call (415) 285-5615. For other locations to pick up Tachyon books, visit our bookstores page.
