Conventions

WisCon 32

May 23-26, 2008
The Concourse Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin
Visit us in the Dealers Room

WisCon is the first and foremost feminist science fiction convention in the world. WisCon encourages discussion, debate and extrapolation of ideas relating to feminism, gender, race and class. WisCon honors writers, editors and artists whose work explores these themes and whose voices have opened new dimensions and territory in these issues. And, oh yes, they also like to have fun while they're at it.

Book Expo America

May 29-June 1, 2008
Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, California
Visit our distributor Independent Publishers Group in the main exhibit hall.

BookExpo America combines the largest selection of English language titles on the planet with special industry and author events and unparalleled educational content to create a dynamic environment for networking, sourcing and relationship building. BEA is considered the top trade show in book publishing.

Readercon

July 17-20, 2008
Burlington Marriott, Burlington, Massachusetts
Visit us in the Dealers Room.

Guests of Honor will be James Patrick Kelly, co-editor of Feeling Very Strange and Rewired, and Feeling Very Strange, Rewired, and the James Tiptree Award Anthology 2 contributor Jonathan Lethem.

Readercon is, depending on your point of view, either an annual literary conference (except it's infinitely more fun than that) or an annual science fiction convention (except we've stripped away virtually everything except talking about and buying books). In the course of its twenty years, it has become the standard bearer and role model for conventions that focus on the literature. A typical Readercon features well over 100 writers, editors, and critics (attracting prominent figures from Canada, the U.K., and occasionally even Australia) and more than 400 of their readers. Readercon is the only small convention regularly attended by such giants of literary sf as Samuel R. Delany, John Crowley, Barry N. Malzberg, and Jonathan Lethem.

Denvention: the 66th World Science Fiction Convention

August 6-10, 2008
Colorado Convention Center, Denver, Colorado
Visit us in the Dealers Room.

A five day celebration of the science fiction field, this is the Mardi Gras of the genre. The attending membership votes on the Hugo Award, which is presented during the convention. Fan Guest of Honor will be local favorite and co-proprietor of Other Change of Hobbit Bookstore, Tom Whitmore.

World Fantasy Convention 2008

October 30-November 2, 2008
Hyatt Regency, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Visit us in the Dealers Room.

World Fantasy attracts a select crowd of sf/f professionals including authors, editors, artists, publishers, and more. The theme for 2008 is "Mystery in Fantasy and Horror".
Much of the program will look at how the mysterious is used in fantasy and horror storytelling. Be it occult detectives, Holmsian dragons, or Who Stole Frodo's Ring? How does mystery play out in fantastical fiction?
